Our Story

Our adoption story began before we got married. I longed to adopt and always thought it would be from China, and told Paul I had to marry a man who had a heart for adoption. He did.

Fast forward a few months and we are at a Steven Curtis Chapman concert and he is telling their adoption story. My heart broke for the orphans in the world, and we went home that night knowing we were called to adopt.

A year later we decided that we would start trying to get pregnant, and adopt later. Getting pregnant took longer than we thought it would and during that time there was an earthquake in Haiti. We heard that Haitian orphans might be able to come to the United States, but in order to help with these orphans we needed to be certified as a foster home. So we started the foster/adopt classes. We later found out that the only Haitian orphans that would be coming to America were those who already had waiting families here. We also found out we were pregnant with twins, and decided that continuing the foster to adopt process needed to wait. During this time we were able to watch the story of Jamie and Aaron Ivey as they brought home their two children from Haiti.

In October  2010 we lost our sweet Owen, but Julia was very healthy and was born in March 2011. Six weeks later we were volunteering for the Easter service when we met Kimberly Stewart and she told us about their little boy in Haiti that they were waiting to bring home. She told us about their agency and the orphanage where their son was, and our desire for international adoption was awakened.

Over the next several months we prayed, and researched orphanages and agencies. We had several conversations and finally decided to meet with SHARE Adoptions and begin the process to adopt. God has confirmed at each point that this is the direction we should go. We know that this process will take at least 2 years, and will be expensive. We know that because God is leading us this to Haiti that He will provide. God has called us to adopt 2 children. We don't know anything about them yet because we just began this process, but we are praying for them. We are praying for their safety, that God will give them peace, hope of a family, and keep them safe.

Will you join us?
